The Placencia Peninsula has become one of Belize's fastest-growing tourism destinations, drawing steady visitor traffic to its beaches and village. If you own — or plan to buy — a rental here, licensing works much like the rest of Belize, with a local trade-license layer.
BTB licensing comes first
As everywhere in Belize, your Placencia rental must be registered and licensed by the Belize Tourism Board before you advertise. That means meeting safety and sanitation standards and passing the required inspections.
The Placencia Village trade license
Because Placencia Village is a municipality, you need a local trade license to operate a business there — usually an annual fee based on your rental's estimated value or revenue. This is part of the standard BTB application package.
Clearances and tax
You will need CBA, DOE, Fire, and Health clearances, and once licensed you must collect and remit the 9% hotel accommodation tax on short stays each month.
